Mediation Services

Why mediation?

Mediation is necessary when there is a conflict between two or more individuals which cannot resolve without professional support.

Failure to address in a timely fashion has many costs and risks: These include mental health of individuals involved, escalation, other employees or members being dragged into the conflict, increased absenteeism, reduction in productivity, reduction in profits, and in some cases violence and legal recourse against the organization.

The Mediation Process

Two of the key principles of mediation are:

  1. Voluntary participation by all parties, and

  2. Participants and mediator must sign a confidentiality agreement.

There are four parts to this process:

  1. Meeting with client to discuss needs and ensure that the dispute in question can in fact be mediated, and is the best option.
  2. Discussion with each individual involved separately.
  3. Mediation – facilitated communication between the parties.
  4. Report to client and next steps if any.

My experience is that most mediation processes last a total of 6-8 hours.
